Botulinum toxins (e.g. Botox Cosmetic®, Xeomin®, Dysport®)
Frown lines and most facial wrinkles develop because of the constant movement of muscles under the skin. These wrinkles and frown-lines can give people the appearance of being tired, depressed and older than they feel. Botulinum toxin A (Botox®, Xeomin®, Dysport®,) can temporarily weaken these muscle and soften the appearance of lines caused by repeated facial movements. With a proven record of safety and effectiveness, these wrinkle treatments have become one of the most popular anti-aging procedures. The most common areas where these treatments have shown to improve cosmetic appearance are the ‘crow’s feet’ around the eyes, the glabellar lines (frown lines) between the eyebrows, and the forehead. Treatments do not completely stop all of the movement in the areas where it is injected, but do soften the lines by relaxing excessive muscle movement.
There is often minimal to no downtime; however, there is always a risk of getting a small bruise. The effects of Botox®, Xeomin® or Dysport® injections are visible after approximately 5–10 days and can last for approximately 3–4 months
